The importance of working on your business – branding, marketing & website

I’m writing this as the year is drawing to a close, like many of you I have been reflecting on the year that has passed and the new year ahead. Considering what has worked well and what hasn’t worked as well. Looking at what my strategy is going to be in 2023, personally I am looking at shifting my marketing strategy a little towards blogging and podcasting then using those longer forms of content to create social media content primarily for Instagram and also Pinterest (which I haven’t done much of this past year).

I think it can be so helpful to see what has worked in your marketing but also to consider how you feel about it and whether a shift is needed. It seems like more and more of us are frustrated with Instagram at the moment, the lack of organic reach and various other frustrations. Then of course there has been a lot going on with Twitter to say the least! It goes to show how important it is to have your own platforms of content too and why email marketing can be effective (if email marketing is part of your plan then read my recent three part series – starting with: Email marketing for ethical, eco-conscious e-commerce lifestyle businesses – part one: the why).

My philosophy is that the 3 core areas of brand identity (and branding), marketing and your website have to all be working well.

It’s why I am running a completely free 15 DAY BRAND PRESENCE POLISH UP CHALLENGE for e-commerce brands, service based online businesses and those with an online presence for their brand.

You will receive prompts each weekday for the duration of the challenge via email and you can also access the challenge via a private podcast too if you prefer to listen than read!

And it’s running from the 9th January – 27th January (no weekends).

I do hope that you will consider joining the free to challenge to help you get 2023 off to a great start. It’s going to cover a number of different areas within the three cores. But hopefully in a completely non-overwhelming way!

Hey, I’m Kirsty McGill the creative behind Elm Leaf Studio. I’ve been a designer for 13 years now and building websites for most of them.

Elm Leaf Studio is a creative studio that exists to help small, ethically-minded businesses grow and thrive.

When I’m not designing I mostly spend my time running around after a toddler nowadays, and if I get a spare moment I enjoy reading, learning and making art.
